Once a single dome becomes too large (at around 2,000 sq. ft.), it is typically cheaper to break up the canopy into several smaller canopies that share columns, or posts. For example, a 30' x 40' hip shade, which has four posts, would split into two 30' x 20' hip shades that share six posts. What's more, this would also ensure better tension of your shade's fabric.
